We Need Your Voice!
Please note: The survey is now closed. A survey results summary will be posted in the near future
This fall, the Alzheimer Society will be asking you, as someone living with dementia or caring for someone with dementia, to add your voice to our call for change.
For the past several months, the Society has been reaching out to governments across
Canada, working to raise awareness about the growing dementia epidemic, and its potential to overwhelm the health care system. To ensure that our case is supported by the most current evidence about the dementia in Canada, the Society is in the final stages of a study, Rising Tide: The Impact of Dementia on Canadian Society, which details the social and economic impacts of dementia over the next 30 years.
As we finalize the findings of the Rising Tide study, we feel it is imperative that our community have an opportunity to consider the issues and prioritize recommendations for action.
We will consult stakeholders through an on-line questionnaire, scheduled to begin the last week of September and remain live for about six weeks. Hard-copies of the survey will also be made available, which people can complete and return to their provincial or local Society.
"The survey, which will only take between five to 10 minutes to complete, will ask you to share with us the most challenging parts of your experiences with dementia, as well as what you feel are the most important areas for government assistance," says Debbie Benczkowski, Interim CEO of the Alzheimer Society of Canada
Your voice is a critical piece of our advocacy work, and our message to government will only be as strong as the number of stakeholders who lend their voices to a powerful call for change. Please help us motivate this country's governments to make change now!
