Painting by Margaret King: My Garden

"My Garden" by Margaret King

Margaret King was born in 1906 in Stanraer, Scotland. She went to Glasgow Art College when she was 18 years old and also attended the Royal School of Needlework in London. During World War I, Margaret met Peter King, who was a Lt. Colonel in the Canadian Army and they married in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Margaret raised three children and in her spare time she enjoyed gardening, knitting, sewing clothes and needlepoint.

As Margaret painted this beautiful tapestry, she described each brush stroke as if she was planting a flower and patiently she filled her garden.
